The first Russian netminder in history to hoist Lord Stanley’s grail when the Tampa Bay Lightning were crowned Stanley Cup champions in 2004, Nikolai Khabibulin was a ninth-round selection of the Winnipeg Jets in 1992, with All-Star honours bestowed upon the Sverdlovsk native four times. We have a signed and photo-matched blocker and glove combo worn by the star goaltender during his time with the Edmonton Oilers, in 2009-10. Reebok “Premier Series III” Lefevre models in Oilers' retro colours with solid white bodies and orange and blue accents, “Khabibulin” appears embroidered on each, with original inventory tags from the Oilers affixed. Both items also sport the initial “K” handwritten, with this done by Kay Whitmore, showing they have the approval of the NHL. Holograms are affixed to each, with a matching LOA from the Oilers to accompany.
The blocker and glove both show heavy use, with numerous puck marks across both the face of the blocker and pocket of the glove. Marks are also visible over additional areas of each, with blue and orange paint transfer along the edge of the glove’s wrist guard. Nikolai has added large blue marker signatures to each along with his number, and the signatures stand out well. Getty Image #91596892 from Sept 23rd 2009 has been matched to numerous marks on the face of the blocker, and to a pair of marks near the Reebok/Lefevre tag on the glove, while Getty Image #91391325 from Oct 3rd has also been matched to marks on the face of the blocker, as well as to marks on the cuff of the glove including a large example. Lastly, Getty Image #92311462 from October 22nd has been matched to numerous marks on the front of the glove, and to marks on the cuff of the glove including a large example.
