Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
The one and only Wayne Gretzky accomplished the astonishing feat of scoring 50 goals in 39 games with the Oilers in 1981-82, burying his fifth goal of the game into an empty net for the milestone marker against Philadelphia on Dec. 30, 1981. This awesome WGA framed display features a Wayne Gretzky signed limited edition Titan stick in the same style as the Great One used on that magical night in Edmonton. Gretz’s big bold black marker autograph across the blade has a “50/39” notation, with the “17/99” limited edition notation written on the heel. Beautifully framed with five 8x10 photos of Gretzky scoring his 50th despite Flyers HOFer Bill Barber’s desperate bid to prevent it. Comes with a WGA LOA.
The big shadow box frame measures 74” x 29” at its widest and tallest points. The five 8x10 shots of Gretzky’s 50th goal are displayed like a film strip above the autographed Titan stick with “W. Gretzky” stamped on the shaft.
