Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Held in Prague in March of 1959, the World Championships would see Canada, represented by the Belleville McFarlands, take gold followed by Russia with silver and Czechoslavia with bronze. From that 1959 tourney is this nice collection of 12 B&W Czech postcards measuring 3 ½” x 5 ½” and featuring pictures of participating teams that include the McFarlanes, Teams USA, U.S.S.R., Italy, Poland, Finland, Czechoslovakia, East and West Germany, Norway, Switzerland, and 1 other. In nice condition with some slight wear, yellowing, and small stains in parts, along with pencil handwriting on the backs written as “1959 World Championships” with country added to most, it's bound to nicely enhance your international hockey collection.
The McFarlands had won the right to represent Canada after winning the Allan Cup, symbolic of Canadian Senior A supremacy, in a 1958 showdown with the Kelowna Packers.
