This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Wonderful collection of Montreal Canadiens game night programs from the hallowed shrine, the Montreal Forum, ranging from 1941 to 1946 and in overall nice condition. All 12 issues are complete, intact, and clean with 11 lineups unmarked and just one, from Feb. 7, 1942, with a few “xs” beside a couple of players’ names. From the days of the Punch Line and other great 1940s stars, with condition showing several with creases down the middle, along with one, from the Nov. 29, 1941 game having a damaged back cover and another, from Jan. 17, 1942, having no back cover at all. All in all, a beautiful lot.
Breaking the lot down, we have issues from Feb. 22, 1941 (Habs-Chicago), Nov. 29, 1941 (Habs-Bruins), Dec. 13, 1941 (Habs-Brooklyn Americans), Dec. 27, 1941 (Habs-Rangers), Jan. 17, 1942 (Habs-Rangers), Feb. 5, 1942 (Habs-Chicago), Feb. 7, 1942 (Habs-Red Wings), Feb. 14, 1942 (Habs-Rangers), Feb. 21, 1942 (Habs-Chicago), Jan. 10, 1946 (Habs-Leafs), Nov. 15, 1945 Habs-Rangers), and March 6, 1946 (Habs-Rangers). Maurice Richard broke into the league during the 1942-43 season but played just 16 games before breaking his leg. The 1942-43 programs included here are after the injury with Richard absent from the lineup. Charlie Sands wore number 9 at this time, while Richard owned number 15.
