Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
The Edmonton Oilers officially retired their first ever WHA team captain Al Hamilton's number 3 jersey in October of 1980. The earlier celebration did not include a banner raising and, in a classy move, the Oilers Hockey Club did it right and raised Hamilton's jersey to the rafters during a pre-game ceremony in 1998. Years later, Hamilton was an integral part of the Oilers Alumni group who assisted in pulling together the Edmonton-hosted outdoor "Heritage Classic." In celebration of this huge event the Oilers, in cooperation with the City of Edmonton, the NHL and Hockey Hall of Fame, set up an interactive "Fan Fest" that took place at City Hall over the course of the Heritage Classic weekend. The highlight of the downtown activities included the formal introduction of the "Mega Stars" teams including Gretzky, Lafleur and the rest of the respective Oilers and Canadiens oldtimer squads. We are proud to offer the Al Hamilton Edmonton Oilers #3 Jersey Retirement replica banner that hung in City Hall during the entire Heritage Classic weekend activities. This 8-foot double-sided vinyl display piece is a screened re-creation of the Hamilton jersey retirement banner that hangs in Rexall Place and is in excellent condition. From the archives of the Edmonton Oilers with a team letter of provenance signed by General Manager Kevin Lowe. Official Edmonton Oilers Team Photos from the Locker Room The Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club has always recognized the importance of developing and maintaining team tradition. Oilers management and team leaders have a strong sense of team pride in and out of the locker room, a respect for the oil drop uniform and an appreciation for the players who wore the jersey so proudly before them. With this keen appreciation for tradition in mind, each year the club would immortalize the current roster by framing their team photo and hanging it on the entrance wall of the Oilers locker room hallway for all who enter the dressing room to see and appreciate. Whether you were a seasoned veteran or wide eyed rookie you had to first pass by photos of each of the Oilers teams of yesterday every time you headed out onto the ice. We are proud to offer these one of a kind historical official framed team photos direct from the Edmonton Oilers locker room. Each of these official 16x20" team photos have been matted in Oilers colors and professionally framed significantly larger. Below each photo is a delicately hand scripted notation reading "Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club" with the year and a complete listing of all players and management pictured. All team photos are in excellent condition unless noted in the lot description. From the archives of the Edmonton Oilers and each will come with a team letter of provenance signed by General Manager Kevin Lowe.
