The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
After losing a 7-game battle to Quebec in the 1977 Avco Cup finals, the Winnipeg Jets returned to the finals for the third straight year in the spring of 1978 and this time had no problem recapturing the WHA's top prize. The Jets took New England in four games, completing the sweep with a 5-3 win at the Winnipeg Arena. Bob Guindon made a major contribution to the Winnipeg cause, firing 8 goals in 9 playoff games. Like his teammates, Guindon received an Avco World Trophy miniature. The names of the champs are engraved in two columns onto a metal plaque which identifies the Jets as 1977-78 champions. Plaques which read "The Avco World Trophy" and "Bob Guindon Winnipeg Jets" appear on the opposite side. A globe is suspended in clear Lucite beneath an ornate silver cup, with the trophy rising to just under 13". The fabulous award is in oustanding near mint condition and will be accompanied by a LOA signed by 3-time Avco Cup champion Bob Guindon.
