The Marcel Dionne's Auction - October 2004
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/19/2004
Fantastic American Hockey League memento commemorates the Rochester Americans' come-from-behind victory in the 1987 Calder Cup finals. Down 3-2 in the series to the Sherbrooke Canadiens and trailing by 2 goals heading into the 3rd period of game 6 at the War Memorial in Rochester, the Amerks stormed back to force a 7th game and then shutout the Canadiens in Sherbrooke, before team captain Dave Fenyves hoisted the championship trophy. General Manager Joe Crozier's championship gold ring features a diamond embedded in a small Americans logo applied to a blue stone. Encircling the tableau is "Calder Cup Champions" with "19" and "87" on opposite sides. One shank includes the AHL logo and championship trophy with "Southern Division Champions" engraved below while the other features crossed hockey sticks, the Amerks stars and stripes logo and "Crozier" above. The size 11 1/2 ring shows moderate wear but remains in excellent condition. Stamped "10K" on the interior band, the impressive keepsake will be accompanied by a letter of authenticity signed by Joe Crozier.
