Returning to SC Bern for a second season with the club in 1988-89 after playing with them and the Edmonton Oilers in 1986-87, where he would win the first of his two (2) Stanley Cup championships. Reijo Ruotsalainen would skate in 36 contests for the club during the season, registering 46 points in that time frame and helping the squad finish the regular season in 3rd place overall. Knocking off EHC Biel and EHC Kloten in the playoffs to set up a now iconic Finals matchup against HC Lugano, Ruotsalainen and the rest of SC Bern would win the round to give the franchise its 7th NLA championship and first since 1979. Offered here, is this SC Bern jersey worn by Ruotsalainen during the 1988-89 NDA season. A light-weight all mesh construction garment made by Blacky of Switzerland, a tag displaying a size "XL" designation is affixed to the inner collar while the company's horse logo is found throughout the collar and over the left breast. Featuring fully sublimated logos and crests of SC Bern over the front and sleeves, Nissan sponsorship logos are present over both sleeves while Veillon is found over the right breast and lower reverse. Displaying Ruotsalainen's number "29" over the sleeves and reverse, a cloth nameplate with "Ruotsalainen" spelt out across it is affixed to the upper reverse. Exhibiting good game-wear, numerous board burns and small cuts are found over both sleeves with other burns and small cuts found at the right side/hip and over the lower reverse. Additionally, pilling is seen on the interior of the right sleeve as well. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Ruotsalainen will accompany the piece.
