Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Setting a then-franchise record of 37 wins during his first season in Ontario as a member of the Maple Leafs in 2002-03, we offer a group of three sticks issued to superstar netminder Ed Belfour for use during his time in Toronto from 2002 to 2006, with all three having been signed by the Hall of Fame netminder. Including CCM Heaton 10, Sher-Wood 5030 SOP and CCM Vector V8.0 models, all three sticks are in the Maple Leafs blue, white and silver colourway of the era and have never had tape applied to the knobs, handles or blades. Displaying various stamps over the upper shaft of each including “Ed. Belfour” (CCM Heaton 10), “Belfour (Sher-Wood 5030 SOP) and “Ed. Belfour #3” (CCM Vector V8.0), each stick has had serial numbers stamped into the underside of the upper shaft while the CCM models show production date stamps of “27 AVR 2005” (CCM Heaton 10) and “14 MAR 2006” (CCM Vector V8.0) respectively. With all three remaining in excellent condition despite some marks and paint loss from storage, transport and handling over the years, it is worth noting that the CCM Heaton 10 example has some old tape residue over the paddle and upper shaft, likely from a bundle of sticks being tapped together for transportation. Signed by Belfour over the forehand side of the blade on all three with black marker ink signatures that display well, the Heaton 10 example’s autograph is lighter from age. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Belfour will accompany the lot.
