Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/3/2023
Hailing from a season that saw him limited to only 28 games due to injury when this card was pulled fresh from a pack of 1957-58 Parkhurst offerings, Maurice “Rocket” Richard would still manage to contribute 34 points over those games as the Canadiens won their third of five straight Stanley Cups. Along with that of teammate Jacques Plante, the Maurice Richard issue trails only that of his brother Henri and Frank Mahovlich in terms of importance/value among 1957-58 Parkies, with this example having earned a mark of EX-MT 6 after inspection by the graders at PSA. Displaying with toning over both sides though heaviest on the front, the card’s eye appeal is helped by bold colours, good corners that show only light touches of wear, smooth edges and clean surfaces. Housed in a well cared for PSA holder that sports only a small number of light scratches over both sides, this excellent card of perhaps the most important player to ever don the red, white and blue of Les Canadiens is sure to make an excellent addition to your vintage collection.
