This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Legendary Edmonton Oiler friends and teammates during the 1980s who would help the franchise win four Stanley Cups together, Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier would reunite for a season with the New York Rangers in 1996-97. The legendary battery mates are featured here in this collection of five (5) memorabilia cards from various Upper Deck releases between 2000-01 and 2005-06. Leading off, a 2000-01 Upper Deck Vintage Dynasty: A Piece of History card picturing the two HOFers in their Oilers years and featuring pieces of mesh jersey worn by each is present, followed up by a 2003-04 Upper Deck Premier Collection Premier Teammates card of the two pictured as Oilers alumni at the 2003 Heritage Classic with similar jersey swatches found under each player's image while being serial numbered in the middle “006/100”. Two 2005-06 Upper Deck SPx Winning Combos dual jersey cards are included as well, with both picturing Gretzky with the LA Kings and Messier the New York Rangers with both once again featuring jersey swatches. Both serial numbered, one is number 286 in a print run of 350 (“286/350”) while the other is the gold parallel variation numbered “90/99”. Rounding out the group, is a 2000-01 Upper Deck SP Game Used SP Tools of the Game Combo patch card picturing both of the legends as members of the Rangers. Beautiful patch swatches are displayed over the front under both players imagery with Messier’s being a two-colour red and white piece and Wayne’s a solid red. The card is serial numbered at the bottom “12/50”. All the cards remain in excellent condition and when examined with the naked eye, only slight edge and corner wear were noticed and worth mentioning.
