Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
One of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s original 9 inductees, Howie Morenz was the Montreal Canadiens first major superstar, with a dozen years spent representing the sacred CH which included 3 Stanley Cup championships. Morenz passed away at the age of 34 on March 8, 1937, from complications resulting from an on-ice incident. We have a memorial program from the benefit game staged that fall to benefit the fallen star’s family, when a team of NHL All-Stars and a combination of Canadiens and Maroons faced off at the Montreal Forum on November 2. This 56-page program features an intact center line-up which boasts legends such as Shore, Horner, Conacher, Jackson, Day and Shriner pitted against the likes of Joliat, Lepine, Blake, Beveridge, Ward, Gagnon and Siebert, among others.
Solid and complete with the covers still firmly attached, moderate to heavy foxing has taken place on the vintage publication, with both the front and back covers affected, with the staples showing some light rusting as well. Sporting additional toning to both the front and back covers along with some creasing, the spine shows similar wear while the interior pages remain exceptionally clean.
