Sure to be alluring to all those looking to add a bit of vintage showcasing the boys of summer to their collection, we invite you to look no further than this complete 1964 Topps set that includes a starting lineup worth of PSA graded cards. Staring with those that have already been slabbed, the group is paced by NM-MT 8 of Tommy John’s RC, picturing the hurler whom the elbow surgery is named after with Indians teammate Bob Chance. Followed by a NM 7 of card #125, Pete Rose’s all-star rookie, a trio EX-MT 6’s including Mickey Mantle, Frank Robinson and Yogi Berra. The last four (4) slabs include an EX 5 “A.L. Bombers” card of Maris, Cash, Mantle and Kaline and VG-EX 4’s of Ernie Banks, Hank Aaron and Willie Mays. Of note, all the holders remain in excellent condition while two other cards submitted to PSA but not slabbed include those of 200-Koufax (miscut) and 306-Giant Gunners (evidence of trimming). A mostly high-grade assembly in the grade range of EX-MT/NM, exceptions include cards #3 (Koufax Leaders – crease), 237, 319, 329, 426, 474, 475, 546 (Aparicio – crease), 555 and 583 while the long list of key cards is led by EX-MT/NM vicinity examples of 29-Brock, 155-Snider (70-30 centering), 175-Williams, 177-Killebrew (O.C. on the revers top-to-bottom), 230-B. Robinson, 244-La Russa, 250-Kaline, 280-Marichal (O.C. top-to-bottom, shows more on the reverse) and 342-Stargell. Cards following behind those listed above in close grade scope proximity include examples of 120-Drysdale (slight fading on the reverse), 210-Yastrzemski (small bottom right corner ding), 225-Marris (tiny top right corner ding, shows more on the reverse) and 460-Gibson (tiny corner ding at the top left) in EX-MT+ condition with card #440 of Roberto Clemente rounding out the notables in the vicinity of EX-MT and displaying with 90-10 centering. Of note, all the checklist cards remain unmarked with #’s 188 and 517 in a lower grade than what is consistent with the rest of the set. Card #423 of Aaron and Mays is off-center and approximately 21 of the cards have been rubbed with a coin on the reverse to show the comic.
