Well remembered as one of the most venerated Stanley Cup winning goals in history given the amazing backstory, the 1951 Stanley Cup Final witnessed the Maple Leafs advancing to their fourth Cup final in 5 years, taking on a Montreal squad that had last won in 1946. Toronto would be crowned champions, winning the best of seven series with Bill Barilko scoring his famous overtime goal in Game 5. Hailing from game two, won by the Canadiens 3-2 in overtime, we offer this Maple Leaf Gardens program from the 1951 Stanley Cup Finals. At roughly 7” x 10”, the thick 84-page program features a black and white image of Cup winning goal scorer, Bill Barilko, on the cover. The centre line-up page is intact, showing the date of April 14th, 1951 and displaying no fewer than 14 future Hockey Hall of Fame inductees between the two clubs. The program shows wear in many forms included creasing and toning along with surface and edge wear as well as ink marks to the front cover and page edges. The spine shows moderate wear but with no tears to the front or back covers and only light rusting to the staples. Despite a fairly low technical grade it displays well, with the historical significance outweighing any negatives.
