Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
After 4 disappointing games on home soil by Canadian standards, the Summit Series shifted to behind the Iron Curtain in Moscow with game 5 taking place two weeks after the conclusion of game 4. The Canadians would hold command for much of the game, holding a 4-1 lead after 5 minutes had been played in the third period before the mighty Soviet’s would score four unanswered goals to take the game by a 5-4 final score, pushing Team Canada to the brink of elimination. Hailing from the first game in Moscow is this ticket stub from game 5 held at the Luzhniki Palace of Sports in Moscow. Measuring approx. 2 5/8” x 4 1/2” at its longest parts, the thin paper ticket lists the game, date, venue and seat in Cyrillic, with a line drawing of the Luzhniki seating bowl on the reverse. With a torn edge at the left side and rough top and bottom edges as well, the stub retains good colour and a fairly crisp white background. Exhibiting wear in the form of creasing throughout and two small areas of spotting, a tiny pinhole is also present near the bottom.
