Concluding the 1990-91 QMJHL season with a 33-14-4 record which included a .908 save percentage, Felix Potvin was named the top defensive player in the league for his efforts. His 2.70 GAA also led the Q, and as such, the netminder was awarded the Jacques Plante Memorial Trophy. The Chicoutimi Sagueneens would post the best record in 1990-91 and would defeat Shawinigan and Laval in the postseason to advance to the President's Cup, with the Drummondville Voltigeurs swept in four games. In the 1991 Memorial Cup tournament, played at the Colisee in Quebec City, Chicoutimi would finish in third place after dropping the semi-final game against Drummondville by a 2-1 score in overtime, with Potvin taking home the Hap Emms Memorial Trophy as the tournament’s most outstanding goaltender.
Offered here, is this Chicoutimi Sagueneens jersey worn by Potvin throughout the regular season, playoffs plus Memorial Cup and it’s been photo-matched! Made by CCM, a washed out Maska Ultrafil label is affixed to the inner collar with the jersey measuring out to a size “56”. With the CCM and CHL logos embroidered over the reverse hem, the front of the garment is decorated with the Sagueneens team crest in twill with embroidered details along with the 1991 Memorial Cup patch that resides over the right breast. The sleeves and verso have had Potvin’s number “29” sewn to the them in dual layer navy-over-white tackle twill with “Potvin” spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in white vinyl letters with peeling exhibited throughout and heavily on the “V”. The interior features a fight strap that is heavily salted and rusted with evidence of numerous washings present. Sporting excellent game-use, puck marks and stick marks are seen over the body and body sleeves with heavy pilling seen to the exterior of the lower front as well as near both cuffs from rubbing on Felix’s pads and gloves. Loose threads are seen on the front crest and numbers on both the sleeves and reverse with the back number “9” having stick marks and red coloured liquid staining at the base. two unrepaired cuts are seen at the right hip while paint transfers are found on both sleeves. Good use is also exhibited on the interior of the jersey.
Regarding the aforementioned photo-matches, the jersey is matched to an included image of Potvin receiving the Guy Lafleur Trophy after defeating Drummondville in the President's Cup to the loose thread in the “D” in “de” on the front crest as well as the distinctive fold directly to the left of the “E” in “de” as well. Additionally, Potvin has signed the back number “2” with a silver ink signature that shows well despite some fading from age.
