Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

Similar in style to the Montreal Canadiens, we offer a circa mid-to-late-1950s "Rive Sud" wool jersey. With no labeling, and measuring out to a size 48, the jersey is possibly from the Verdun Canadiens (Canadian Junior A hockey team based in Verdun, PQ playing in the Montreal Metropolitan Junior Hockey League in 1954-55) or from the Victoriaville Canadiens (Senior Amateur hockey team based in Victoriaville, PQ playing in the Eastern Townships Intermediate Hockey League in 1959-60). Featuring a felt "V" team crest surrounded by a "C" and quite similar in style to the Montreal Canadiens logo (but a V in the middle instead of the H), a "Rive Sud" patch was added at some point to the crest most likely because the jersey was recycled after its intended use. The jersey is of a pro-style construction for the era and has reinforced elbows and felt numbers/team crest, with "18" in layered felt sewn to the sleeves and verso. The jersey shows heavy use with a number of small holes and multiple team repairs, with a bit of fraying to the team crest and sweat staining to the collar.
