A wonderful pairing of sets hailing from the mid-1970’s are up for grabs here in the form of Topps’ 1974-75 and 1975-76 releases. The ’74-75 assembly is found in a consistent range of EX/EX-MT and is highlighted by the rookie trio of Lanny McDonald, Borje Salming and Denis Potvin. The McDonald and Salming example remain in the scope of EX with the Potvin the best of the three, being in vicinity of EX/EX-MT. Joined by keys including RC’s of Scotty Bowman and Don Cherry, both in the same EX/EX-MT range, others include EX-MT/NM specimens of 232-Lafleur and 248-Orr Norris with 100-Orr falling a bit short at EX-MT+ while 155-Dryden and 260-Clarke just below that, in the scope of EX-MT. Other noteworthy cards in the vicinity of EX condition include 2-Orr Leafers and 130-Orr All-Star while the two checklist cards are in the range of EX-MT and EX respectively. Of note, the leader card of Esposito/Goldsworthy has a slight elastic mark.
The ’75-76 set, presenting in EX-MT on average, is highlighted by cards of 35-Dryden, 200-Esposito, 250-Clarke and 283-Salming that are in the condition range of EX-MT/NM with those of 100-Orr, 126-Lafleur around the vicinity of EX-MT+. Cards #23 and #288 of HOFers Lanny McDonald and Bobby Orr All-Stars are seen in the scope of EX-MT and remain very respectable. The three checklists all remain unmarked and are in the condition range of EX-MT/NM while all the team checklist cards are also unmarked. An excellent trip down memory lane, we’re sure our lucky winning bidder will be pleased.
