This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Hailing from a decade that saw only three franchises win Stanley Cup’s including the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers, offered here is this lot that includes 271 O-Pee-Chee and Topps hockey cards from the 1970s. Entirely in general mid-grade VG/VG-EX conditions, the group does include a small percentage of examples that are either higher of lower grade. Featuring many HOFers, stars and rookies, both the NHL and WHA are represented here with a healthy group of sixty-two (62) 1970-71 cardboard offerings leading the way as the oldest examples, headlined by rookie cards of Darryl Sittler (G/VG), Guy Lapointe (x3 – G/VG) and Brad Park (F/G), accompanying them includes the likes of 3-Orr (VG), 29-Howe (VG/VG-EX), 231-Sawchuk (G/VG) and 238-Howe All-Star (x3 – G/VG). The group of 1971-72 cards, totaling 41, includes two Bobby Orr’s, both around VG-EX while one has wax stains on the front, two Marcel Dionne RC’s, one in G condition the other in the range of VG with corner wear, and two Gordie Howe “Mr.Hockey” commemoratives, one that is in FAIR condition the other in G/VG. Skipping a year and instead looking at those colourful borders from 1973-74, Bobby Orr is present in VG-EX condition while Billy Smith (light back) and Larry Robinson (dark back) are notable rookies that are included, with Smith in the EX-MT and Robinson around EX. 1974-75 includes a heavily creased Bob Gainey RC as well as a Steve Shutt in EX-MT and three Bobby Orr issues. Near the end of the decade, the 1978-79 group includes a pair of Dave Taylor rookie offerings as well as a Mike Bossy with all three in the vicinity of EX-MT/NM condition with the trio visually appealing. Additionally, three Bobby Hull WHA releases are included, all in EX-MT/NM condition while a fourth displaying much worse in the scope of F/G. Featuring other names such as Phil and Tony Esposito, Dionne, Plante, Dryden, Potvin, Park, Lafleur and others, the collection is sure to keep you occupied for hours on end with its ability to take you on a trip down memory lane.
