Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Dating from what many consider to be the golden age of hockey with the latter half of the Original Six and the first round of expansion in the National Hockey League that was mostly dominated by the Red Wings, Canadiens and Maple Leafs, offered here is this collection of 136 1950s and 1960s Parkhurst, O-Pee-Chee and Topps hockey cards that features numerous HOFers, stars and rookies alike. Mostly in low grades and featuring condition issues such as multiple creases, pinholes, poor corners and stains some of the noteworthy cards include 1960s offerings of Jacques Plante (1960-61 Parkhurst and 1963-64 Topps – G and VG condition), Gordie Howe (1962-63 Parkhurst and 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee All-Star and “Mr. Hockey” – all near VG condition), Bobby Orr (1967-68 Topps All-Star in G/VG condition and 1969-70 OPC regular plus Norris Trophy in G condition and G/VG condition), Bobby Hull (1963-64 Topps in VG-EX condition and 1969—70 OPC All-Star in VG condition), Terry Sawchuk (1969-70 OPC Commemorative in VG-EX condition), Tony Esposito (1969-70 OPC rookie card in VG-EX condition), Stan Mikita and Glenn Hall (1963-64 Topps in VG-EX and EX condition) and finally Tim Horton and Frank Mahovlich from 1962-63 Parkhurst in VG and VG-EX condition respectively. With the rest of the group including names such as Beliveau, Cournoyer, Bathgate, Bower and Richard along with additional examples from names listed above like Orr, Plante, Mikita, Hull, Hall, Howe and Sawchuk, the group is sure to be a wonderful trip down memory lane and a good chance to add some vintage to your collection at a reasonable price point.
