Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction December 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/13/2022
The drawing card of any ensemble of 1966-67 Topps hockey cards is of course the young phenom from Parry Sound, Ontario who revolutionized the way blueliners played, with Bobby Orr’s coveted rookie card contributing here in VG 3 form. Wear at the corners and along part of the top edge is visible but no creases affect the image of the teenager, with a 1-1/2-inch diagonal one in the lower left quadrant to note. The batch of accompanying cards has numerous condition issues and can be rated low grade, with some 50 cards exhibiting varying degrees of back damage (from once having been pasted) and/or tape-stained fronts, while the not-glued stack is mostly VG or inferior due to corner wear and/or creasing. We count 10 comparative standouts that make it to EX or real close (VG-EX+), with 12-Bower, 62-Mikita, 85-Geoffrion and 130-Worsley All-Star among them. Gordie Howe cards are low grade, with #109 multi-creased (F) and 121-All-Star hampered by staining on the front. The two checklists (P) include a torn #120-2nd Series. An array of options awaits the high bidder here, with the Orr RC the definite focal point and no notable scratches/scuffs to the recent PSA holder.
