A classic run of card sets featuring the men who helped write the seven-season history of the World Hockey Association is up for grabs here, led chronologically by a 66-card set from 1974-75 which is led numerically by “The Howes” card. VG-EX/EX in our opinion, it’s joined by similarly crisp cards, with intermittent light corner touches observed and most cards in the EX-MT to NM range including those picturing stars such as Hull, Mahovlich, Cheevers, Plante, Nilsson and Hedberg. The checklist, also is found in matching condition and remains unmarked. A 132-card complete 1976-77 set is included, presenting in similar EX-MT to NM range, some examples of O-Pee-Chee’s commonly seen of the era centering issues are present, affecting 50-Howe, 72-Howe All-Star and 111-Mahovich in terms of the star cards. 65-Hull shows light wear to the top right corner and 117-Checklist, once again presents as unmarked. Lastly, a typical sharp ’77-78 set is included, complete with 66 high grade examples observed. Card #1 of Gordie Howe falls in the EX-MT condition range with the whole contingent once again made up of EX-MT/NM examples. Of note, many of the card backs are miscut with “OPC” cut off and “Printed in Canada” partially cut off. A set of (20) ’73-74 WHA posters is also present, with some intermittent bent corners and three with a gum stain (GS) on the back including that of numbers 2, 3 and 4. Overall in the EX-MT condition range for more, the exceptions include number 11 and 12 which have a small piece of the right border missing as well as number 14 of the Howe Family, which shows water staining. Lastly, a complete set of (24) 1971-72 Topps is included as well. Largely crisp and white, the lone obvious exception is 1-Hull which has toning as well as a crease at the top right but overall throughout the set only very light handling is exhibited.
