Worn by a pair of warriors known to cause on-ice dust ups, offered here is a New England Whalers jersey worn by Marty Gateman during the 1975-76 season that was recycled for use by Steve Carlson during the next year of 1976-77. Sporting a Gerry Cosby label with “48” sizing along the collar, the interior features a garter style fight strap that is missing the hook on the end. Styled with a multi-coloured and layered tackle twill team crest with chain-stitched detailing, the number “26” resides over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with “Carlson” affixed over the upper reverse in white-over-gold tackle twill letters. Two matching alternate “Pucky the Whale” logos reside over each shoulder, also in layered tackle twill with chain stitched detailing. Of note, clear evidence of Gateman’s name can be found on the upper back with some of the letters able to be made out. Exhibiting good game-use, the jersey shows black stick marks across the upper right corner of the front crest, the reverse number “2” and the lower front while board burns are seen underneath the crest and over the right sleeve near the cuff. Puckering is exhibited on the front crest and back numbers with a small brownish stain seen on the crest and back number "6". Various snags and pulls are found throughout the outside of the jersey with good pilling seen on the interior.
