Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

A rather inviting assembly of 1972-73 O-Pee-Chee collectibles is up for grabs here and although the NHL and WHA logo inserts are at the front of the binder, we’ll first inform you about the cards, dominated by EX-or-better representatives. We spot some light dings and touched corners (a small percentage are “only” VG+ or VG-EX) but they tend to be 1st and 2nd Series cards (they had more time to be handled), with the group numbered 210 and up definitely nicer overall and featuring mostly attractive EX+, EX-MT and NM-or-better contributors – that’s what you want to hear. Bobby Orr’s #129 card is but VG with corner dings, with 58-Orr In Action at VG-EX and 227-Park/Orr All-Star better (EX+). Other notables include 59-Lafleur (EX), 145-Dryden (VG-EX) and 336-Hull (EX+), while the four checklists are unmarked but are weak condition exceptions; a crease or two affect all, similar to 341-Pinder (VG), with 228-Tony Esposito AS the only real low grade filler. And now on to the team logos, with scarce Atlanta Flames and N.Y. Islanders examples not present and substituted by ’73-74 versions, the same as Pittsburgh. Only the odd small crease is spotted in NHL entries, with California (elastic band indentations) and Detroit (writing on the back) lesser, while WHA logos are a tad better, although the Oilers (crayon mark), Sharks (scrape) and Jets (crease) have issues, similar to duplicate Raiders and Nationals examples. A few options await the new owner here.
