Serving as a Montreal Canadiens' farm club for a trio of seasons in the late-1960s, the Thetford Mines Canadiens played in the Provincial Junior “A” League from 1967-69, winning the league title in 1966-67. The team would later transition a few times, and is currently the Rimouski Oceanic. Attributed to goaltender Jacques Mongrain in 1966-67 according to a reply from a letter sent to goalie Michel Dumas who played for the team in 1966-67, 1967-68 and 1968-69, this Thetford Mines wool sweater sports a Tease Knitting laundering label affixed to the inside right seam, and measures-out to roughly a size 42. Styled with a canvas team crest with “Thetford” chain-stitched, “30” is sewn to the left sleeve in blue felt, with a chain-stitched Canadiens crest over the right sleeve. “30” is also repeated over the reverse in layered tackle twill. The tie-neck collar features four eyelet, metal-grommet construction, with no intact tie string. Exhibiting nice use with wear and fraying to parts of the team crest, there is additional wear to the Habs crest, with a minor tear to the reverse “3”. Team repairs are also visible, with examples placed over the front (7), reverse (11) and sleeves (9). A modern 8” x 10” print of Mongrain with Thetford will be included.
