Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022

Remembered for his leadership of Canada during the First World War, Sir Robert Laird Borden entered office as the 8th Prime Minister of Canada in 1911, serving until 1920. The Nova Scotia native was the last Canadian prime minister to be knighted. Just the second example we have ever offered, we have a signed portrait photo of the barrister and Conservative, with this specimen dedicated to a “good friend”. At 8 ½” x 12” (exposed from the matte), the antique photo from photographer Dupras & Colas pictures a portrait image of Borden, with the photo mounted beneath a black mount to full dimensions of approx 12 ½” x 16”. Borden has signed beneath the image in flawless bold black ink, adding a lengthy personalization, with the photographer also signing over the bottom right. With no issues for the image or signature, this signed portrait will fit comfortably within any advanced politician autograph grouping or Canadiana collection. Borden would pass away in 1937, just shortly before his 83rd birthday.
