Inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2002, superstar Ivan Hlinka is widely regarded as one of greatest Czech players in history. Instrumental in the Czechoslovak wins at the World Championships in 1972, 1976 and 1977, Hlinka played in parts of 15 seasons for HC Litvinov before a pair of NHL seasons with Vancouver which included setting a then-Canucks record for most points by a rookie (60). The Most native was also successful at coaching after his playing days, leading the Czech Republic to gold at the 1998 Winter Olympics. Hailing from the personal collection of superstar Anders Hedberg, the pair exchanged jerseys at the 1974 World Championships in Helsinki, with the offered Team Czechoslovakia jersey worn by Hlinka and gifted to Hedberg. Sporting a simple collar label with large “A” and measuring-out to roughly a size 52, the vintage tie-neck jersey features a multi-coloured shield team crest with embroidered detailing. “21” appears over the sleeves and verso in drop-shadow, dual-colour canvas, with no nameplate over the upper reverse. A signed LOA from Anders Hedberg will accompany. Addendum; According to new information received, the jersey would be from the 1971 World Championships.
Hlinka would conclude the 1974 World Championships with an impressive fifteen points including nine goals in just ten contests. With intact collar string, the jersey sports light to moderate game-use, with wear to the material, especially over the sleeves. There is also a small hole beneath the front band. As mentioned, the uniform was acquired by Hedberg when the pair exchanged jerseys after the 1974 World Championships, with Hedberg stating that he got to know Hlinka in the summer of 1973 when visiting Prague as a student.
