Serving as an assistant equipment manager with the AHL’s Buffalo Bisons beginning in 1953, Encil “Porky” Palmer also assisted the club as a practice goaltender. During the 1964-65 season, the Bisons’ kepper Ed Chadwick was injured during the Nov 20th match, with Palmer filling his shoes for his first and only appearance for the Bisons, losing a tight contest in overtime. We offer a mid-1960s Lefty Wilson goal mask worn by Palmer. Molded fiberglass with what appears to be the original leather and canvas strapping, especially large eye holes have been utilized, with no padding affixed to the interior. Tape was added to each top hole, with some minor discolouration to the interior and heavier wear over the bottom edge of the chin. Palmer was also an original employee of the Buffalo Sabres organization, staying with the club until 1995.
