Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
The first player in Toronto Maple Leafs franchise history to reach the 50-goal plateau, Rick Vaive enthralled supporters for numerous seasons in Ontario with the blue and white after spending his first season of professional hockey with the WHA’s Birmingham Bulls, in 1978-79. This Bulls jersey was originally gifted to a non-profit organization in Alabama by an ex-Bulls team trainer, and it’s a vintage garment from the period matching the examples worn by Vaive, with just the collar style differing. A Russell Athletics label with “L” sizing graces the collar, with the desirable sweater measuring-out to roughly a size “48”. Styled with a rubberized Bulls team crest, striping bands, and numbers, “Vaive” appears over the affixed mesh nameplate in single white twill.
The vintage garment survives in beautiful condition with no obtrusive wear or marks.
