Finishing just a single point behind Bobby Orr at the conclusion of the 1972-73 NHL season, Rick MacLeish would net 100 points during this, his first full season with the Philadelphia Flyers. That season also witnessed the sniper being the first player to score 50 goals for an expansion club. This photo-matched Flyers jersey was worn by MacLeish during the 1978-79 NHL season. A W.A. Goodman and Son label with “M” sizing is affixed to the collar, with the vintage mesh sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with the classic winged-P team crest, “19” appears over the sleeves and verso in oversized and layered tackle twill, with “MacLeish” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill. The original garter-style fight strap remains intact. Exhibiting great game-use, there are random marks throughout including a few bold stick marks over the upper left sleeve, with red and blue paint transfer over the front band and additional red paint transfer on the left shoulder. There is also heavy pilling to the interior sleeves, with three repairs on the lower right sleeve. Addendum; Please take note that there is evidence that the left shoulder had a circular Barry Ashbee patch.
Regarding the aforementioned photo-matches, Getty Image #79104768 (undated) has been matched to the big paint transfer mark on the left shoulder, while Getty Image #53129573 (undated) has been matched to the series of black marks and their pattern below the "19" on the right sleeve and to some black marks below the "19" on the left sleeve. An included numeric image also shows the large red paint transfer mark on the left shoulder. Furthermore, that same large transfer mark can be seen on MacLeish’s 1979-80 O-Pee-Chee/Topps hockey cards.
