Using a ranking system for blackbelts and under blackbelts, the National Blackbelt League (NBL) is one of the only international sport karate leagues based upon a series of open tournaments culminating with a year end championship known as the Super Grand World Games. This National Blackbelt League 1996 Super Grands World Games VII Karate World Champion 10K gold ring was presented to the Canadian karate champion according to our consignor. Size 11 with an approx weight of 18 grams, a red stone sits centered over the top, encompassed by “Sport Karate” and “World Champion” in raised letters. The right shank features a generic raised martial artist, with “1996” and “Washington DC” above, and “USA” below. The left shank contains a gold-coloured globe with “#1”, with “NBL” and “Super Grands” above, and “VII” below.
The inner band is stamped "HJ-10K", with "Nov-28-96" engraved. The ring exhibits light to moderate wear from use, with scratches visible over the inner band. We should also note that the ring shows evidence of being resized.
