Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Parkhurst’s first “giant” hockey cards were issued in 1953-54, with this gathering definitely pieced-together over time, with varying degrees of toning observed. The rookie card of hockey giant Jean Beliveau is an attractive VG example in our book, with a small diagonal crease in the upper right corner region spotted. Also spotted are an incalculable number of cards that measure either short or narrow, including Worsley RC, Richard, Harvey, Howell RC, Delvecchio and still more, suggesting trim jobs. Creased cards are the minority with VG, VG+ and VG-EX examples dominating. Sawchuk is VG-EX+, while curved Parkie album indentations affect Howe and Horton, both in the VG vicinity. Appealing renditions of Original Six era history-makers await the high bidder, with 92-Schmidt required for completion.
The vast majority of the card backs are problem-free, with however considerable paper loss to that of 52-Lindsay and scotch tape affecting 41-Pronovost, both front and back.
