Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020

O-Pee-Chee collectibles from 1973-74 here have attributes and appeal, with the cards generally exhibiting very little handling/wear and dominated by EX-MT-or-better entries. Green-bordered Series 2 examples are overall a little superior and include dozens of sharp NM-MT and better cards. Key rookie cards of Larry Robinson (NM) and Billy Smith (EX-MT) are joined by those of Barber (EX), O’Reilly (EX-MT) and Schultz (NM). A dozen low grade red-bordered fillers include #72-Lafleur, while two checklists are unmarked (129 is NM (OC), 263 is EX), with #116 neatly marked (otherwise VG-EX). Groovy complements are 17 ring inserts and four wrappers, with more details and images available on our website – you’ll enjoy checking them out.
A well-centered Bobby Orr card (EX-MT) is mentionable, with all but 15 cards (all 1st Series) being of the white back variety. Checklist #129 is among the grey backs. The rings mirror the cards condition-wise, with only intermittent corner touches spotted, although the last couple (Flames, Islanders) have evidence of once having had an elastic band around them. Two 1st Series wrappers have survived in nice tear-free condition, with a three-digit number penned near the edge of one, while two 2nd Series jobs include one with a tear and another with three edge tears. All-in-all, attractive stuff from a challenging issue.
