Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
One of the first Finnish goaltenders to compete in the NHL with 13 games played for New Jersey in 1984-85, Hannu Kamppuri also made appearances in the WHA, AHL and CHL, with the bulk of his career spent in the SM-liiga. This vintage WHA Edmonton Oilers jersey was originally obtained directly from the Oilers along with two others, with our consignor led to believe that the jersey was assigned to Kamppuri during his limited time with the club. The style worn by the Oilers from 1975 to 1977, it would have to have been recycled for Kamppuri’s use. In absolutely gorgeous original condition, a Rawlings label with “50” sizing is affixed to the collar, with no other tagging present. Featuring a tackle twill oil drop team crest, “35” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with no evidence of a nameplate ever affixed to the vintage durene garment. A loop-style fight strap has also been utilized, with “G25” handwritten beneath.
