Considered the first major hockey card release and attributed to the Imperial Tobacco Company, the 1910-11 C56 hockey set is complete at 36, with players from each of the National Hockey Association’s seven teams featured. Ready to augment any world class assemblage and the collecting dream of countless hockey card aficionados, we have a complete set of 36, with each example graded by PSA. Highlighted by an especially pleasing copy of Cyclone Taylor’s first card #15 graded EX+ 5.5, other key rookie cards include Art Ross #8 VG-EX 4 (HOF 1949), Frank (#1 – HOF 1950) and Lester Patrick (#26 – HOF 1947) both VG 3, the second Art Ross card #12 Good+ 2.5 and Newsy Lalonde #36 FR 1.5 (HOF 1950). This is followed by the highest graded examples, with Marty Walsh #7 graded EX-MT+ 6.5 (HOF 1963), Harry Hyland #10 EX+ 5.5 (HOF 1962) and Percy Lesueur (#2 - HOF 1961) and Art Bernier #25 both at EX 5. Card for Jack Laviolette (#21 - HOF 1963) and Riley Hern (#22 - HOF 1963) have both been graded EX 5 MC, with Paddy Moran (#28 - HOF 1958) and Joseph Cattarinich (#16 - misspelled “Cattarinigh”) both at VG-EX + 4.5. Next, we have cards for Pud Glass #5, Edgar Dey #6, Angus Campbell #9, Jim Jones #19, Skinner Poulin #24, C. Toms #29, Moose Johnson (#30 - HOF 1952) and Bruce Stuart (#17 - HOF 1961) all VG-EX 4, and examples for Gordon Roberts #3, Tom Dunderdale (#14 - HOF 1974) and Jack Marshall (#33 - HOF 1965) at VG+ 3.5. Rounding out the lot, we have VG 3 cards for Didier Pitre (#23 - HOF 1963), Fred Lake #27, Ed Decary #13, Harold McNamara #32 and Herb Clark #11, a Good+ 2.5 card for Nick Bawlf #18, Good 2 for Horace Gaul #31 and FR 1.5 for Jack Marshall (#35). The final three cards all grade PR 1, with Bruce Ridpath (#34), Ernie Russell (#20 – HOF 1965) and Barney Holden (#4).
