Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
One of the Habs most beloved all-time players, Guy Lafleur remains atop the list for the most points scored throughout the historic club’s century plus of existence. We have a pair of items that scream “Guy!” with a framed and signed “The Bench” photo, along with a second photo that pictures Lafleur celebrating his 1000th NHL point in 1981, with a young 15 year old Mario Lemieux captured, cheering on Guy with the rest of the Forum hopefuls. “The Bench” photo is roughly 12” x 18” (exposed), with team members pictured during the 1974-75 season taking a breather on the bench including Savard, Lapointe, Mahovlich and Henri Richard, with Guy centralized. Produced from the original photograph by Bob Fisher, the modern print has been signed by Lafleur over his image, double-matted and framed to full dimensions of approx. 20” x 26”. The 1000th point photograph by Doug Ball is 16” x 20”, with Guy pictured on the bench, with the fans applauding, including a young Mario Lemieux that’s pictured almost directly behind Lafleur. Both legends have signed near their respective image, with Guy in black, Mario in silver, with just light wear to the print itself. A wonderful and detailed 7 page letter from 2015 from Ball explains the important photograph, with thoroughly interesting content.
