Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Always on the radar of vintage hockey collectors, we have a wonderful group of blockers and gloves available in this lot, highlighted by an early “open finger” pair that most likely originates from the 1920s. 7 trappers ranging from the 1950s-1960s are also present, with a few possibly earlier, along with 2 complete matched sets. 2 of the gloves are unmarked, along with examples from Winn-Well (youth model), Cooper (youth model), CCM, Spalding and Cooper-Weeks. The CCM and Cooper examples are from the 1960s, while the other gloves are earlier. The matched sets include a nice “ambidextrous” pair by Spalding that predate the modern style trapper, hailing from the 1940s, along with a set from the early-1950s with no maker visible.
The highly desirable 1920s set features wooden slats along with rawhide knuckle accents across the fingers and thumbs. With some threading unraveled along the cuff of the right glove the only issue, the pair remains in very good condition, with some minor wear to the palms and some rubbing to the leather in spots. The remaining gloves all vary in condition, with great use and wear exhibited but no obtrusive damage. A few items, including the matched set with no maker listed, have names handwritten in ink.
