Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
The backbone of the New York Islanders early-1980s dynasty, Bryan Trottier was awarded the Conn Smythe, Art Ross and Hart Memorial trophies throughout his career, with the Saskatchewan native also securing 6 Stanley Cups as a player, four with the Isles along with an additional pair with Pittsburgh. This signed Islanders jersey was worn by the HOFer in 1983-84. Syosset tagging is affixed to the collar including “52” fly tag, with a second tag exhibiting “3”. Styled with the iconic Long Island team crest in tri-colour tackle twill, the mesh V-neck has also been accented with dual-colour sleeve and verso numbers, with “Trottier” across the nameplate in matching material. A few dark marks (including washed-out examples) are present over the front and each sleeve, with a large stick mark on the right side of the team crest. Trottier has signed just above the reverse numbers, and the signature is flawless. Originally from the collection of the Newport Sports Museum, an LOA will accompany.
We should note that repairs to the reverse numbers are visible from the inside of the jersey, and we should also note that a loop-style fight strap has been utilized, and it remains intact.
