Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
A Stanley Cup winner with the New York Rangers in 1994, Mike Richter is arguably one of the best goaltenders the United States has ever produced. The Pennsylvania native was also a gold medal winner with the US at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey, and he spent his entire 13-season career in Manhattan. We have a pair of signed pads worn by the superstar in 1993-94, a Stanley Cup championship season. Heaton Healite models in Rangers’ red, white and blue, an affixed leather patch on the outside of the left pad states “Custom Made for Mike Richter”. Getty Image #220572 from Dec 31st 1993 shows Richter using this style of pads, which he wore briefly in 1993-94, with Mike signing the right pad over the white toe section, and the signature has heavily faded.
Exhibiting just light wear, the pads have had the lower skate straps removed, with just a few minor blemishes present including a few faint puck marks on the lower sections.
