Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Hailing from the days when Wayne Gretzky was atop the hockey world in the late-1980s, we have a pair of helmets that saw NHL action, with a Cooper “goalie” mask along with a player’s helmet. Originally from the Danny Woods collection, the Cooper goal mask likely originated with the Islanders or Leafs, with both Islanders Jeff Hackett (1989-1991) and Maple Leafs Jeff Reese (1987-92) wearing #1 along with this type of helmet while with their respective teams during the era. In solid blue with screened-on Cooper identifiers, the HM30 cage is intact along with the padding (detached) and strapping. A “1” decal appears across the bottom reverse, with the cage affixed to the helmet with bits of skate lace at each side. Exhibiting a ton of use with wear and scratches present, there is also damage along the left hand side, with stick tape adhered to the cage on the left hand side. The accompanying player’s helmet is a CCM model in solid blue, with “28” across the reverse. With the strapping and interior padding intact, “28” has also been handwritten along the inside, with nice use exhibited including scratches and abrasions.
