Conceived of just after his untimely death due to leukemia in 1977, the Barry Ashbee Trophy is presented to the best Philadelphia Flyers’ defenceman each season as judged by the media. This Barry Ashbee Trophy was presented to the award’s first recipient, Andre Dupont. Standing just under 9”, a metal skate and puck combination sit perched above a finished square wooden base, with a brass plaque affixed listing the particulars including “Awarded annually to the most outstanding Flyers defenceman as selected by a panel of sportswriters and sportscasters” There is some wear to the base in spots, along with a few minor scratches to the brass plate. A sticker from maker Ampros also remains partially affixed to the underside. A signed LOA from Mr. Dupont will accompany.
