Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Best known for his nine seasons of play with the Philadelphia Flyers, Swedish import Kjell Samuelsson also saw action with the Pittsburgh Penguins during their drive for a second straight Stanley Cup in 1991-92. This is Kjell's Team Sweden worn jersey from the 1991 Canada Cup. Made and tagged in the collar by Tackla in size XL, the all-mesh uniform features sublimated graphics in blue with yellow accenting. "K. Samuelsson" crosses the nameplate which is sewn above the back numbers. Nice wear throughout includes a series of slashes above the right sleeve number that have been conclusively matched to a photograph of game action during the tournament (a digital image will be included with the lot).
More game wear in the form of black stick marks on the arms and lower front and a handful of board burns and unrepaired skate cuts can also be spotted. The Tackla logo rests up on the right breast with the red, white and blue Labatt Canada Cup logo over on the opposite side. A rare and desirable gamer from the top international series of the period.
