This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Established by the Parliament of Canada in May of 1873, the North West Mounted Police began as a central police force, eventually evolving into the RCMP through merging with the eastern Dominion Police in 1920. This sword was produced to commemorate the centennial of its creation in 1973. Produced by Wilkinson of London, the attractive and weighty keepsake features a beautifully etched blade with 18 carat gold-plated guard, pommel and quillons. Finished with a solid rosewood handle and engraved images including the march west of the original recruits, along with the four historical RCMP crests. In excellent condition with wear along the guard and quillions, an engraved serial number of “C0611” resides on the reverse just above the guard.
