Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Yet another historically significant piece being offered in this auction from the collection of Hall of Fame goaltender Ed Belfour, we have the Florida Panthers jersey Ed wore while securing his 482nd career win. With “Goalie Style” and size tagging in the collar, additional embroidered Reebok and NHL patches sit on the back neckline and bottom hem. Styled with dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name on nameplate, the jersey also features matching palm tree crests on both shoulders. The team patch on the inner hem states that this garment is a “Set #3”. Visible game-use includes a few black marks on both sleeves, around and beneath the numbers. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany.
The jersey also sports a MeiGray tag on the inner bottom hem, and according to their population report, the sweater is a "white - promotional game 3/27/07” example used in a March 27th 2007 match against Tampa Bay. Ed earned the second star of the night, which was also his 25th win of the season, and as mentioned, his 482nd career win. Belfour only played 3 more games in the NHL, winning two and losing one in a shoot-out.
