Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
A goaltending coach with the New York Islanders currently, Fred Brathwaite is one of few netminders to score a goal, with the Ottawa native’s lone marker coming while tending the crease of the Manitoba Moose in 1996-97. We have a goalie mask worn by Brathwaite during his time with the London Knights in the OHL in 1991-92. Produced by Ed Cubberly with his trademark “C” cut within each side of the mask, the original interior padding and strapping remains intact, with a manufacturer’s label along the interior behind the right ear. Featuring an attractive design with a solid black knight over the forehead along with a yellow and green star motif with shield patterns over each side, there is some chipping over the chin section, with additional marks, scratches and abrasions to the surface. There is also a Cubberly sticker behind the left ear.
There is some very minor soiling to the chin pad, with a few dark stains near the right ear section (these appear to be cleanable). There is also some wear/chipping along edges.
