Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

It was the first outdoor regular-season NHL game ever played in the U.S., a tilt that saw the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 on a goal by Sidney Crosby in a shootout. This affair, played in front of 71,217 fans (an NHL attendance record at that point) at Buffalo’s Ralph Wilson Stadium, saw snow fall throughout the game, which didn’t seem to bother the players or the fans, and when all was said and done, after Crosby had lit the lamp and fans had filed out, it was an outdoor affair considered a raving success. We have a poster in perfect condition from that huge 2008 event, measuring 11” x 16 ½”, and signed in dark green marker by 16 Buffalo Sabres including Michael Ryan, Derek Roy, Thomas Vanek, Jocelyn Thibault, Drew Stafford, Andrew Peters, Daniel Paille, Brian Campbell, Jaroslav Spacek, Ales Kotalik, Nathan Paetsch, and others, with the cool art deco-style poster lettered as “Ice Bowl New Years Day, 2008 Pittsburgh vs. Buffalo, Buffalo, New York”.
