Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014

Eye-popping is this vintage postcard-size photo of the mighty Cyclone Taylor (HOF-ind. 1947, dec. 1979), posing on a wooden platform in his Vancouver Millionaires uniform, complete with holes in his socks and sweater. Measuring 3 ¼” x 5 ½”, this sepia-toned delight has lightly worn edges, a corner crease, and a small and quite unnoticeable thinning of paper in the middle. The reverse shows paper residue/damage from being in a scrapbook, along with a piece of tape and handwriting in pen that includes “a tough game” and Fred “Cyclone” Taylor. The handwritten date appears to be “1913”. Cyclone joined the Millionaires in the 1912-13 season after coming from Renfrew, and stayed with the western PCHA club until 1920-21.
