The Bruins moved fast to trade for goalie Gilles Gilbert after two-time Stanley Cup champion Cheevers jumped to the WHA following the 1971-72 season. The move paid dividends as Gilbert helped Boston reach the Stanley Cup finals for the third time in five seasons in 1973-74. The Bruins’ 50th anniversary is neatly commemorated by patches sewn on both shoulders of Gilbert’s photo-matched 1973-74 game-worn white home jersey. This fantastic Bruins gamer is matched to the team repair on the front lower hem going into the yellow stripe and to the alignment of the black stripes on the sides near the team repair. That is one of four team repairs on the front and there is a long sewing fix on part of the stitching on the right elbow gusset. More game wear includes interior pilling, some stitiching that has let go on the left elbow gusset and a few small black marks on the front. Wilson tagging with a handwritten size 50 sits in the back of the collar. Please note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
