This absolutely sensational New York Americans game-worn wool jersey was worn by Hall-of-Famer Harry Oliver during the 1935-36 NHL season and its provenance is airtight! A standout with the Calgary Tigers of the early-to mid-1920s, Oliver won the Stanley Cup with the 1928-29 Boston Bruins and spent his final three NHL seasons with the Amerks. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1967 and passed away in 1985. This historic Amerks sweater comes directly from the estate of Harry Oliver when the HOFer's nephew, Danny Oliver, came into a Vancouver show in the mid-1990s and sold five jerseys to a Toronto dealer. Spectacularly preserved with vibrant colors, Oliver's #10 Americans gamer features a wondrous NY AMERICANS crest sewn on the front in red, white and blue triple felt with six sewn-on blue felt stars arched above it. The back features the number "10" in sewn-on red and blue double felt that display like-new colors. Amazing! There are also six sewn-on blue felt stars arched across the top of the numbers, with the tip of the star on the far right torn but sewn in place. Alex Taylor & Co. tagging is sewn inside the left rear tail. Amazing game wear includes seven team repairs, some substantial, on the lower right sleeve and six more vintage sewing fixes on the back of the lower left sleeve. There are light reddish-brown stains on the upper front from the collar to the top of the crest, another on the left rear tail and light black stains on the lower sleeves. A sensational New York Americans game-worn jersey, one of the last NHL sweaters worn by HOFer Harry Oliver. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. Comes with an LOA.
