Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2014
How sweet it is! The thought that this 100-plus year old relic once slid over a group of ten cigarettes which were accompanied by an early hockey card sure is stirring. Considered the earliest hockey card wrapper, a similar cigarette pack was purchased in recent years with a full set of C56 cards inside and is indeed the correct type of pack/wrapper that cards issued by Imperial Tobacco would have been distributed in back in the day! Each outer side of the "shell" reads "Manufactured by Imperial Tobacco Company of Canada Limited - Under Sole License for Canada." The thought-provoking piece is free of any tears/splits, exhibits light to moderate handling/wear and awaits an important tobacco card shrine. Imperial Tobacco also was responsible for baseball's C46 set, three lacrosse issues and the C14 / C45 Bird sets.
